Scott T. Smith is a self-taught photographer whose favorite subject is the natural world. A former research meteorologist, he got his first camera in 1979 and began to take photos on his outdoor adventures—snapshots to share with family and friends. He has been a full-time freelance photographer since 1988 when he quit his “real” job and he and his wife lived in their truck and the backcountry for a year while making photos.
